Making literature safe for a triggered generation.
This is why physical media -- whether it be books, tapes, CDs, and DVDs are so important. They are indelible evidence of the past and are not subject to capricious editing by do-gooder bowdelerizers. On the other hand, there is a part of me that believes this is all a sinister publicity stunt to reignite interest in Dahl's work, perhaps as a "replacement" for "transphobe JK Rowling." Either way, it is ill-advised and a further indication that publishing has become a tax dedution for autocrats and nothing more.
